Planning your work week when you are alone

On your own, the week always fills up faster than expected. Three simple rules are enough to avoid a week where nothing gets done because everything is overflowing.

Group by geographical area

Two projects in the same neighborhood on the same day are better than two perfectly timed projects during the week. Travel time is unbilled time.

Keep a half-day buffer

An unplanned Friday afternoon absorbs the week's overruns. Without a buffer, every delay pushes back the next project, and the next client calls.

Block out an administrative slot

Quotes, invoices, follow-ups: a fixed hour, always at the same time. The rest of the week, you don't think about paperwork.
